NDI Launches the OPTOTRAK ScanTRAK Bundled Laser Scanning Solution

WATERLOO, CANADA – September 20, 2007: NDI has announced the launch of the OPTOTRAK ScanTRAK Advanced Handheld Laser Scanning System, a bundled solution and shop-floor innovation that combines the power of optical measurement with large volume, pointcloud laser scanning. ScanTRAK™ includes NDI’s Optical Tracker, an integrated Multi-Sided Probe (MSP), a Perceptron V5 laser scanner, plus an available laptop computer and PolyWorks™ advanced point-cloud analysis software.
The ScanTRAK system is a complete inspection and reverse engineering solution that addresses a full range of shop-floor applications, including quality assurance, tooling and assembly verification. Ideal for scanning large parts, ScanTRAK’s ability to seamlessly switch faces allows operators to approach, scan, and probe from almost any angle, dramatically improving usability and measurement throughput.
NDI’s advanced optical technology offers the added advantage of dynamic referencing, a powerful feature that automatically compensates for part and tracker movement during scanning to guarantee higher shop-floor accuracy.
ScanTRAK is one of the lightest scanners on the market and measures at rates as high as 458,400 points per second with a 140 mm-wide laser stripe. In addition, the MSP provides support for both point-cloud and contact-probe measurement with virtually unlimited range of motion. The result is a shop-floor solution that finally brings flexibility and ease of use to walkabout scanning.
